What Happens When You Drink Soda Every Day?

The consumption of soda has been linked to a number of health problems. In fact, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention found that roughly 22% Americans drink one beverage with added sugar every single day, which is concerning when considering how young adults are consuming it at an even higher rate (43%). Daily drinking can contribute to serious diseases like heart disease or diabetes so be aware!


Even if you're not a soda drinker, chances are that you're still consuming dangerous amounts of sugar. The American Heart Association found that 47% of the US population has at least one sugary beverage per day. By cutting back on even just one can, Americans as a whole could cut their caloric intake by eight billion a year!


This article is discussing dangerous side effects and health concerns for those who drink one or more sugar-sweetened beverages such as sodas every day. It also discusses how much Americans as a whole are drinking and what steps they can take to cut back on the dangerous amounts of sugar.


Why do Americans drink soda? Well, it's a serious addiction. On average, the American drinks about 23 gallons of sugary beverages a year! Just one can of soda a day increases diabetes by 85%.


What are the dangerous side effects of drinking soda?


By drinking one or more sugar-sweetened beverage every day, the average person is increasing daily intake by about 200 calories. This can be dangerous by itself but it also puts people at a higher risk for obesity, cardiovascular disease and diabetes.

Sugar is dangerous. If you want to cut down on sugar in general, start by cutting back on your sugary beverages. Not only do they provide little nutritional value but they're packed with dangerous levels of sugar that can increase the risk for heart disease, diabetes and obesity.


Soda can do serious damage to your health, even if it doesn't have any sugar in it! If you stop drinking soda, your body will detoxify itself from chemicals that are found in soda cans. This includes levels of sodium benzoate, carrageenan or caramel color. These dangerous chemicals can also cause some serious side effects. Soda is dangerous for people of all ages, even babies!


Another side effect is tooth decay. Drinking soda can make your teeth become brittle and sensitive, leading to cavities. In fact, soda is one of the most dangerous beverages you can drink as far as tooth health goes. If left untreated, these cavities can lead to infections that require antibiotics from your dentist. Unless you stop drinking soda today, you're probably going to be visiting your dentist in the near future.


A few other side effects are:

  • Increased risk of heart disease and stroke

  • Kidney stones

  • Obesity

  • Type II diabetes

  • Stomach cancer

  • Dementia

  • Irritability

So are you ready to make a change?


In order to make a change, you have to be ready for that change. If you want to get healthier, you have to make the commitment and stick with it.


Stop drinking soda and start drinking water at least twice a day to get your recommended 8 glasses. This will also prevent side effects like weight gain and rapid aging.
