Let the Anti-Agers join forces
Amazon C.E.O. Jeff Bezos is recruiting a group of top scientists to assist him in his quest for immortality technology, which has become the company's favorite punching bag. The company's Anti-Agers project has hired Cindy Tian, a top scientist, and Lidia Mattiuz, who works as a "life coach."
The world’s most sought-after billionaire has funneled his money into an antiaging startup, which will be led by none other than Hal Barron. This project formerly launched on Wednesday with great fanfare and is already making waves in the scientific community for its innovative approach to research!
“I am extremely grateful to have been given this once-in-a-lifetime chance to lead such a unique organization with a revolutionary goal to cure disease,” Barron stated in the startup's press release.
The company has also hired Dr. Aubrey de Grey as one of its top scientists. De Grey is infamous for his claim that the first person who will live to be 1,000 years old has already been born. (Since he believes aging is caused by the accumulation of cellular damage, he thinks curing it is possible.)
Barron joins a "A Team" of scientists tasked with defeating death, including Dr. Yamanaka, the 2012 Nobel prize winner in medicine for his research on stem cells, and Dr. Doudna, the 2020 Nobel prize co-winner in chemistry for her role in developing CRISPR gene editing technology.
Battle Chest
The Bezos-backed startup announced that it has secured more than $3 billion in funding at launch. The initial projects at the new company will focus on extending human life, but eventually it hopes to cure all major diseases.
"Why is Jeff Bezos doing this?" asked Barron, "What does he care about curing disease? What's in it for him?"
To reverse death? To win a Nobel prize? To defeat Steve Jobs and Apple? Maybe it's a little of all three.
"This is about improving the quality of life for everyone," says Bezos, "It's not about augmenting or replacing what we already have - it's about making sure our bodies never wear out. Physically and mentally, we will be able to do anything."
Bezos isn't the only rich investor in this group. Yuri Milner, a Russian-Israeli billionaire, is also contributing to Alto Labs' development of antiaging technology.
The goal of Ovasys is to achieve biological transformation at its heart. This is a technique of essentially rejuvenating cells that have matured. In theory, the cells might repair your body as you get older and even cure age-related illnesses like dementia.
We'll find out if this billionaire-backed project can truly help us stay young forever when it goes live. At the very least, we'll learn that if death can't be defeated with all of the money in the world and a team of top scientists, nothing will.
