Geoengineering presents the possibility of addressing climate change impacts more quickly than conventional strategies, such as significantly reducing carbon emissions. In vulnerable areas, such as drought-stricken regions or coastal cities at risk from rising sea levels, geoengineering can offer immediate solutions. For instance, reflecting sunlight could lower temperatures, potentially saving crops in drought-affected areas.


Additionally, geoengineering technologies could spur economic innovation. For instance, the development of carbon capture technologies could create an estimated 1.3 million jobs in the United States alone, generating new market opportunities while managing climate risks.


Despite the potential advantages, we must critically assess the ethical implications of "playing god."
