JACKSONVILLE, Fl. - A 15-year-old boy was arrested Saturday morning after six people, including children, were held hostage in an Oceanway home, according to police.
Caleb Seth Boone, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, is now facing a felony charge of false imprisonment.
The incident began around 3:30 a.m. Saturday when deputies were called to a home on Kaylor Lane not far from Yellow Bluff Road and I-295, where there had been reports of an armed man holding people hostage, according to the sheriff's office.
Upon arrival, deputies found that the suspect had barricaded himself inside the home with six hostages - and was armed with a handgun.
They obtained an arrest and search warrants, and the JSO SWAT team responded, rescuing Boone and six hostages, including both adults and children.
It was determined not to be Boone's home, and police are investigating his connection to the property. He had "a number of outstanding custody orders," authorities said.
“My understanding is that he has a long criminal record,” said Lt. Shannon Hartley of the JSO. “I can tell you that it's not our first encounter with him.”
Police are still attempting to figure out what sparked this, but they think Boone was armed and that's why the SWAT team was utilized.
Neighbors refused to speak on camera, but one stated that they heard someone over a loudspeaker asking for Caleb's presence.
This is a developing story and will be updated as more information becomes available.
Neighbors on camera claimed the house has been a source of disruption for some time. One woman even stated that she sees strangers entering and leaving the property all of the time.
The neighborhhod is safe, according to JSO. There were no reports of anyone being harmed.
Caleb is currently in police custody and will be transported to the Duval County Jail.
