THE YACHT IS SOMETHING THICK AND COMICALLY HORRIBLE. WITH ITS BLOCKY DESIGN, IT MAY ONLY BE DESCRIBED AS "MINECRAFT-ESQUE." ON THE DECK, RUSSET GIRDER-WORK MIMICS LOUIS XIV STYLE. IN A WORD, THE BOAT IS BANAL.
Ghost Yacht
Listen, we're not here to give you lectures on how to spend your money; however, you should never spend more than half a million dollars on a pretend yacht that will never be able to fit your real feet.
But it did. Last week, a buyer paid roughly $650,000 in ethereum for an NFT yacht that exists only on an also-ran metavene platform.
Republic Realm, a metaverse platform called The Sandbox developer, bought the yacht for 149 ETH from Metaverse and NFT creator metaverse in a sale first noticed by Hypebeast. The Metaflower Super Mega Yacht was sold for 149 ETH, making it the most expensive NFT asset on the platform.
While it's unclear what the new owner plans to do with their yacht, the purchase has reignited a debate about the value of virtual assets. In an age where people are spending millions of dollars on digital collectibles, is there any real value behind these digital assets?
Digital Specs
The boat is comically ugly, and it looks like "Minecraft-esque." It's got four levels with lounges, a hot tub, dance floor, DJ booth, and two helipads (non-existent helicopters available separately). You may explore it right away on the OpenSea page.
The yacht is a member of Republic Realm's "The Fantasy Collection," a line of luxury NFTs for The Sandbox platform that includes jet skis, speedboats, and private islands as well as marinas and beach clubs. So there are still plenty of ways to lose your money if you're in the mood.
So it's a little bit funny to spend so much money on a boat you'll never get to use. There are, however, certain benefits if you look hard enough. Because everything is digital, there are no upkeep or maintenance expenses for the boat. Not only that, but if you have the financial means to invest more than $500,000 in an NFT, it's most likely a tiny price tag to you.
The issue now is finding pals to come aboard your make-believe yacht with you. There may not be enough money in the world to cover that.
