GTC which is Nvidia GPU Technology Conference (GTC) is a global AI conference that hosts developers, engineers, researchers, inventors, and IT professionals.
At the GTC, the topics of interest include artificial intelligence (AI), computer graphics, data science, machine learning and autonomous machines.
At the GTC that was held on November 9, 2021, Nvidia unveiled “Omniverse Replicator Synthetic-Data-Generation Engine for Training AIs”. Omniverse was first in beta testing in December 2020.
The NVIDIA Omniverse Replicator is a “powerful synthetic-data-generation engine that produces physically simulated synthetic data for training deep neural networks.”
The two applications, DRIVE Sim and Isaac Sim will accelerate the development of autonomous vehicles and robots. NVIDIA DRIVE Sim™, is an application that creates a virtual world for hosting the digital twin of autonomous vehicles. NVIDIA Isaac Sim™ is an application that creates a virtual world for the digital twin of manipulation robots.
What we thought was just science fiction in the movies is going to become our new reality — it will overtake and replace old impossibilities that will one day become our norm. Why? Because our thoughts become reality, our dreams become our lives, and our efforts become our creations.
These Nividia applications can be the gateway that bring us closer to autonomous vehicles and robots that we will rely 100% on without thought just like we rely on that chair sitting in our office to hold us up when we sit down.
If we can perfect reality in the virtual world we can obtain the data necessary to bring that reality into our “real” world, giving us new perceptions. A simulation running a simulation running a simulation. A new awareness of a car that safely drives us without us driving the car or maybe without a car at all. A robot that does our labor, while we command and relax.
Zuckerberg’s Metaverse concept maybe running two years behind, but Zuckerberg’s vision is beyond constraint. From Spark AR, to Project Cambia to Project Nazare, it’s about building a whole new world for us to build, collaborate, share and enjoy together. It’s about disruption.
Zuckerberg’s idea of immersive presence is bold. Metaverse could eliminate loneliness because it could connect you closer in experience with others through shared imagination without needing a physical body there with you. And these shared experiences are not limited within the territorial bound of your continent, country, state, city or family.
Avatars will eliminate the generational biases of skin color passed down from our prior ancestors.
Zuckerberg says that “Metaverse will be the successor to the mobile internet.”But what if its bigger than that. What if Meta-Omni-Verse is the successor to the Universe as we know it to be? But that question if you are critically reading my words demands the asking of another question. Was there a predecessor to the Universe as we know it now? Will there always be predecessors and successors?
If change is inevitable, this means our thoughts and our emotions really are transitory experiences looking for life’s expression through us and our beautiful minds. Begin to view your thoughts and your emotions as opportunities to use new data to invent new experiences, ideas, gadgets, businesses, or universes. We just have to be willing to let go the limitations of old data that no longer apply. Alan Kay who spearheaded the soon to be outdated personal computer once said, “Don’t worry about what anybody else is going to do; the best way to predict the future is to invent it.
If sleep is the gateway to our current Universe, then it could be that awareness will be the gateway to the Meta-Omni-Verse to come.
Life is not a game, or is it? Nvidia and Meta are not in competition, they are more like collaborators of a future life. Yes they may sale gaming products, but it could be that they are selling life-regeneration products labeled as games.
Many individuals and companies have downloaded Omniverse because it offers 3D designers a shared virtual world that has no territorial limitations. It doesn’t matter whether you live in America or in England or in Africa, you can collaborate as if you are sitting right next to each other using your own imagination. Richard Kerris of Nvidia said "virtual worlds are essential for the next era of innovation."
Continents, countries, territorial boundaries, dichotomies like black and white, Republicans and Democrats will have no place in the Meta-Omni-Verse. Those ideas created from primitive minds are going to become technologically out-of-date and irrelevant. Those ideas were based on the belief that there is a sky.
But as Nareen Jain once said, “there is no sky.”
If there really is no sky, then accept no matter how difficult it may be today that there are no boundaries. The sky is an imaginary limit. Your imagination is your limit. And even if none of what I am saying is actually true, it’s empowering if you use it to create the life you want.
Expand your imagination, and the limits of reality expands for you.
Currently, Nvidia is trading on the stock exchange at $294.59; two years ago in September 2019, it was trading at $45.00 a share. Meta Platform Inc. (FB) is currently trading at $330.49; two years ago in September 2019 FB was trading at $188.09.
Nvidia and Meta are doing what most of us thought was only science fiction.
