Inside the plan for utopian metaverse city that will have almost no rules or police

By: April Carson

A metaverse, or a virtual reality world, could be built around self-governance and governed by the framework.

This utopia would have almost no rules or police. The city would be a virtual paradise for those who appreciate freedom and self-expression. Residents of this city could come and go as they please, and there would be no need for laws or law enforcement.

Zaha Hadid Architects (ZHA) – a globally renowned architecture firm – has unveiled plans to build a digital utopia, according to a recent CNN story.

ZHA also revealed several images of the utopian and urban metaverse, known as Liberland, in connection to his design.

The city would be located in a virtual world and accessible to anyone with an internet connection.

This utopia would be a safe haven for those who appreciate freedom and self-expression. The only thing residents would need to do is abide by the principle of non-aggression, which means that they cannot initiate force or violence against others.

The virtual space has a number of buildings with curves, such as the city hall and collaborative working spaces. Shops, commercial incubators, and business hubs can be found throughout the online platform.

The architecture firm's digital community will focus on self-governing principles associated with Liberland - a micronation established in 2015 by Czech politician Vit Jedlicka.

“You can keep a clean office and not throw waste around if you begin with a clean environment and don't litter, which isn't really policed,” ZHA principal architect Patrik Schumacher told CNN.

The genuine Liberland is located between Serbia and Croatia, and it has a population of 7,000 people.

Although the micronation is not recognized by any other country, it has its own flag, anthem, and cryptocurrency: the Liberland merit.

The micronation's goal now is to stake a claim in the virtual world, according to CNN.

On a decentralized platform with blockchain technology, a metaverse (which is an ideal environment for libertarian ideas such as those embraced by Liberland) would be perfect for libertarianism ideals to thrive, according to Schumacher.

When asked how long he's been interested in Liberland, the architect replied, "for a long time now."

“There's a very active community of contributors…a lot of IT and crypto and technology entrepreneurs who feel the world is too restricting,” he explained.

Developers are drawing from many sources to create the Liberland metaverse, including libertarian thought.

The appearance and technological infrastructure of the virtual platform are meant to be modeled on real-world designs, as is the Free Republic of Liberland's border form.

The structures were designed using a parametric approach, which generates complicated shapes.

“I believe the metaverse isn't a fantasy world. It's not like a video game,” Schumacher added.

“The architecture of the Liberland metaverse is unusual and distinctive, yet it is realistic in terms of the types of architecture we already have and will build in the future,” he continued.

Liberland would be a place where people could be free to pursue their dreams and live their lives as they see fit, without having to worry about the government cracking down on them.

ZHA’s goal is to use its virtual world as a bridge between the physical and digital worlds. ZHA also plans to combine its virtual world with the real world, stating that it believes "these hybrid mixed-reality spaces will be quite essential in every workplace."

The company said it's already started testing the metaverse in a single of its buildings, and that part of it will soon be deployed on two virtual floors. For example, according to CNN, some elements of the metaverse are now being tested in one of the structures.

According to Jedlicka, when the metaverse is fully operational, Liberland citizens and residents will have first access.

So far, the Liberland project is still in its early stages, but it’s already making waves in the world of online virtual worlds. Once it’s completed, it could very well become one of the most popular places to live and work in the metaverse.
