With such substantial backing, Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson emphasized the significance of this venture: “With this multibillion-dollar investment from PsiQuantum, quantum computing will be the premiere industry of Chicago’s future.”
The Quantum Computing Campus
Located off 87th Street and S. DuSable Lake Shore Drive, the Quantum Computing Campus will be the heart of this ambitious project. PsiQuantum will serve as the main tenant, tasked with building and operating the first full-scale, fault-tolerant quantum computer in the United States.
This state-of-the-art computer is expected to revolutionize various fields by accelerating the development of life-saving drugs, new materials, and green energy solutions. Officials estimate the 300,000 square foot facility will employ up to 150 people within the next five years, with further growth anticipated as the technology advances.
