After receiving a misdirected text, two awesome strangers delivered gifts to a newborn baby

By: April Carson

What happens when a parent's proudest moment is also the most unusual?

Ask Mark and Lindsey Lashley of Georgia, for example.

On March 19, they brought their first child into the world, a healthy baby boy named Cason. Nothing strange about that.

Cason's grandmother, Teresa understandably, wanted to inform family members about her newest addition. Nothing unusual there, either.

But, unknown to grandma, one of her contacts had changed their phone number. Instead of Mark's cousin, grandma was inadvertently texting information to Dennis Williams, the new owner of the number. Williams decided to join in on the fun.

It all started when a group text was sent.

Teresa, who posted several updates and photos to the group after that, didn't realize she had met the stranger until Dennis and Deorick, Dennis's brother, showed up at the couples' hospital room with baby presents. The exchange and resulting visit were shared by Williams in a post that has since been shared over 200k times.

The Williams brothers arrived at the hospital with presents and kind words for the new parents, just as if by magic.

The Lashley family sent the following message on Williams' Facebook page expressing their gratitude for the brothers' generosity and kindness in providing a small gift to a family they didn't even know about until several hours beforehand.

The following words from the Lashleys are the finest:

"If we were all endowed with such a wonderful heart."

For all the right reasons, this hilarious and uplifting tale is going viral

Our planet is becoming more and more divided by racial, ethnic, religious, and cultural lines, according to plenty of numbers and polls.

But it's easy to forget how far we've progressed:

The Internet fell in love with a heartwarming story that included two random black men visiting the hospital room of a white family to give presents and affection to their newborn baby. That alone is remarkable.

These families will be linked for the rest of their lives thanks to a random act of compassion that warmed the hearts of millions.

Moreover, baby Cason's parents will have one incredible birth tale to tell him when he grows up.

With the recent "number neighbor" tweets going viral on Twitter, this tale is an early example of how ordinary individuals may produce excellent shareable material.
